Allah Sent Miracles and Signs to Prophet Muhammad

Allah sent Quran (in Arabic) as a living miracle for us. But we also find many miracles as we study his (ﷺ) biography. These miracles are witnessed and reported by the companions and came to us as authentic or acceptable narrations via trustworthy chain of narrators. These miracles serve one purpose, that we believe in his (ﷺ) message and/or strengthen our belief.

Let us read another story from authentic hadiths:

Tree stump crying for the Prophet ﷺ

Our Prophet (ﷺ) used to deliver Friday khutbah (sermon) leaning on a tree stump. Then the companions made a pulpit in the mosque and he (ﷺ) started giving sermon from that pilpit and left the tree-stump. The tree-stump stated crying like a camel until the Prophet (ﷺ) came down and placed his (ﷺ) on it. These narrations appear in none other than Sahih al-Bukhari, the most authentic book of hadith, 2nd only to Quran.

Hadith 1: Bukhari
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari #3583 or Book 61, Hadith 92
Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his khutbah (religious talk) while standing beside a trunk of a date-palm. When he had the pulpit made, he used it instead. The trunk started crying and the Prophet ﷺ, went to it, rubbing his hand over it (to stop its crying).

Hadith 2: Bukhari
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari #918 or Book 11, Hadith 42)
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to stand by a stem of a date-palm tree (while delivering a sermon). When the pulpit was placed for him we heard that stem crying like a pregnant she-camel till the Prophet (ﷺ) got down from the pulpit and placed his hand over it.

Hadith 3: Bukhari
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari #3584 or Book 61, Hadith 93)
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah:(different chain) The Prophet (ﷺ) used to stand by a tree or a date-palm on Friday. Then an Ansari woman or man said. "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Shall we make a pulpit for you?" He replied, "If you wish." So they made a pulpit for him and when it was Friday, he proceeded towards the pulpit (for delivering the sermon). The date-palm cried like a child! The Prophet (ﷺ) descended (the pulpit) and embraced it while it continued moaning like a child being quietened. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It was crying for (missing) what it used to hear of religious knowledge given near to it."

This is only one of 100's of signs that came with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), establishing his prophethood to all of us. Only that most of the people know not.

We will explore more of these signs later, insha'Allah.
